GLOVIA International brings unique Seiban capabilities to the ERP marketplace
GLOVIA International announces first-of-its-kind Seiban application to enhance customer satisfaction throughout the manufacturing process
Los Angeles, CA. - 22 June, 1998 - GLOVIA International, Inc., a joint venture between Fujitsu and MDIS, today announced its award-winning ERP solution, GLOVIA 4.0, is the first ERP software to accommodate the Seiban manufacturing style. "Seiban" has been widely-accepted throughout Japan to help manufacturers maintain superior levels of customer satisfaction. GLOVIA’s Seiban Workbench delivers these capabilities for the first time to western manufacturers who seek higher levels of customer satisfaction through more accurate tracking of inventory, customer orders and the supply chain.
As the demand for "build-to-order" products continues to surge among western manufacturers, the ability to satisfy customer demands is critical to maintaining global competitiveness. One way of enhancing customer satisfaction is through Seiban. In Japan, an identifying number is called Seiban: the Japanese word "Sei", meaning manufacturing, and "Ban", meaning number. By assigning a Seiban number to all parts, materials and purchase orders associated with a particular customer, job, project or product line, manufacturers now have access to an on-going stream of information regarding any isolated part of the complete manufacturing process.
The GLOVIA Seiban application employs a selective netting capability that allows manufacturers exacting control over the allocation of supply (inventories, production orders, purchase orders, etc.). Manufacturers can isolate certain inventories from the general population of parts or open stock and assign them for designated use. The product enables customer-order-line level visibility throughout the entire manufacturing process, helping manufactures deliver product faster, reduce supply costs and manufacturing downtime and ensure customer satisfaction.
The Seiban Workbench gives instant access to all customer-related information and also supports impact analysis, "what if" simulations, and convenient maintenance of Seiban assignments and management. The product also provides superior target-cost accounting through positive identification and tracking of all Seiban/job-related purchases, materials and routing activities.
"Manufacturers today need to think globally and deploy best practice techniques, such as Seiban, in order to remain competitive," said William Engel, president of GLOVIA International. "GLOVIA is uniquely positioned to help customers meet the challenges of the global marketplace through it strong ties to Fujitsu in Japan and MDIS in Europe. Through our alliance, we can deliver the most valuable technology deployed abroad to western manufacturers, enabling them to build global solutions based on proven technology."
