ACF Industries selects GLOVIA Internationl's ERP solution based on Seiban Component

GLOVIA is the first to offer Japanese manufacturing technique to Western manufacturers

Los Angeles, CA. - November 23, 1998 - GLOVIA INTERNATIONAL, Inc., a joint venture between Fujitsu and MDIS, today announced that ACF Industries, a leading manufacturer of railway cars, has chosen GLOVIA's award-winning enterprise resource planning (ERP) software solution to manage its made-to-order manufacturing process. ACF selected GLOVIA based on its unique offering of the Seiban manufacturing style. GLOVIA will be deployed in ACF's company headquarters in St. Charles, Missouri and in seven additional plants in the U.S. The initial implementation will accommodate over 200 concurrent users.

Seiban, a Japanese manufacturing technique, has been widely-practiced throughout Japan to help manufacturers maintain superior levels of customer satisfaction. GLOVIA's Seiban Workbench delivers these capabilities for the first time to western manufacturers who seek higher levels of customer satisfaction through more accurate tracking of inventory, customer orders and the supply chain.

ACF will utilize GLOVIA's Seiban Workbench to label and tie together all lower level manufacturing orders under pre-existing lot numbers. Seiban will enable ACF to identify and associate these specific processes and costs with an individual project allowing for more accurate monitoring of the production and target costing related to each job. "ACF was looking for a flexible ERP system that would contribute to the overall success of the company," said Chuck Umphenour, senior manager of manufacturing systems. "GLOVIA does not just reduce time to market but ultimately increases the overall success of the company."

"We are delighted to have been chosen by ACF and to play an important role in the achievement of their business objectives," say Bill Engel, president of GLOVIA International. "The fact that Seiban functionality was a key contributor to our selection is most gratifying because GLOVIA is the first ERP supplier to support this emerging manufacturing style."
