Glovia selected by Portola Packaging after analysis of competitive ERP solutions.
EL SEGUNDO, CA - May 6, 2002 - Glovia International, Inc. announced today that Portola Packaging, Inc. has selected glovia.com, Glovia's ERP solution, after an exhaustive 6-month review of competitive ERP systems. Glovia International, Inc. is the business-to-business, e-commerce subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited.
Portola Packaging judged Glovia and four other major ERP vendors on five criteria:
- Total cost of ownership,
- Ease of implementation/migration,
- Infrastructure requirements,
- Application of built-in processes, and
- Training and support.
"Glovia offered the best solution for our investment dollar and return," said Ara Chakrabarti, Portola Packaging's CIO.
Portola Packaging also purchased collaborative commerce framework, as well as modules for shop floor data collection, cash management and audit management.
Portola Packaging, Inc., based in San Jose, Calif., designs, manufactures and markets a full line of tamper-evident plastic closures for dairy, fruit juice, bottled water, sports drinks, institutional food products and other non-carbonated beverage products. In addition to eight plants in the U.S., and four in Canada, the company has facilities in the U.K., Mexico and China.
By selecting Glovia, Chakrabarti believes the company will be able to improve efficiency and effectiveness. "We needed a comprehensive system that captures the critical information that will allow us to predict what is going to happen and enable us to respond proactively," he said.
Beyond its specific selection criteria, Chakrabarti said that a Gartner Group study on mid-market ERP solutions also influenced the company's choice. "It validated our decision to go with Glovia," he said.
"Glovia also took an interest in understanding our environment. They realized that making this implementation a success is dependent upon our success. It is a genuine partnership," he added. Glovia plans to implement the system at Portola Packaging's U.S., Canadian and U.K. facilities by the end of August, and continue the global implementation after the first phase is live.
