Electronics manufacturer, Avatar Technology, to implement Glovia's integrated ERP / e-commerce solutions.
EL SEGUNDO, CA - May 7, 2002 - Glovia International, Inc. announced today that Avatar Technology, Inc. has selected glovia.com and glovia.e, Glovia's ERP solution and collaborative e-commerce framework, to centralize its inventory control and facilitate global e-commerce. Glovia International, Inc. is the business-to-business, e-commerce subsidiary of Fujitsu Limited.
Avatar Technology, based in City of Industry, California, is a manufacturer of memory products and make-to-order personal computers. With facilities in Florida, Germany, Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Mexico, Avatar needed an integrated ERP and e-commerce solution that would meet the challenges of the global marketplace.
By selecting Glovia, Avatar Technology can provide its global customers with the ability to place orders in their own language and currency, 24 hours a day. glovia.e supports multiple languages, as well as multiple currencies, converting dollars to euros and pesos to pounds, for example, in real time.
Beyond enhancing customer service, Avatar Technology required a solution that would meet the company's internal needs. Avatar wanted a fully integrated back office system, centralized inventory control and order placement capability from its remote offices around the globe.
"The ability to offer 24/7 self-service in multiple currencies and languages over the Internet is essential in today's global marketplace. We're extremely pleased to be selected by Avatar Technology to provide capabilities for global e-commerce," said Matt O'Malley, CEO and president of Glovia.
In selecting glovia.com and glovia.e, Avatar Technology was won over by Glovia's experience in the electronics and PC industries, particularly its successful relationship with Dell, whose make-to-order PC business model is similar to Avatar's.
"From both a technology platform and business perspective, Glovia provides the vision and expertise we were looking for in a solutions provider. We truly see Glovia as a partner as we work to successfully implement the system in our worldwide facilities," said Toresa Lou, CEO of Avatar Technology.
In keeping with its reputation for fast, successful implementations, Glovia plans to implement the system at Avatar Technology's seven facilities for 100 users in two to three months.
