Long Beach, Calif., May 23, 2005 - Glovia International, a subsidiary of Fujitsu and a leading provider of extended ERP solutions for engineer-to-order and high volume manufacturers, announced today, from the 2005 Glovia International User Group Conference in Long Beach, California, the availability of glovia.com Supplier Portal, a new module that helps manufacturers and their suppliers overcome disconnected supply chain challenges to successfully meet end-customer demand.

Supplier Portal is a real-time, browser-based solution enabling manufacturers to reduce costs and meet customer demand more effectively by improving the level of collaboration, information visibility, and communication with suppliers. The solution provides both manufacturers and suppliers with a unified, real-time view of critical order and materials management activities to ensure their entire extended supply chain is working from the most current information possible.

Each time a user logs onto the portal, they see an easily searchable performance dashboard indicating the status of critical activities including open orders, overdue shipments, shipments due over the next several days, order changes requiring acknowledgement and re-order point requirements. The solution helps manufacturers improve communications as it enables them to not only create and publish customizable messages to their suppliers but also ensure that their suppliers have read their messages by establishing dates by which a supplier must acknowledge or respond to the message.

Supplier Portal helps manufacturers and their suppliers streamline shipping and materials receipts in a number of ways:

  • Eliminates discrepancies between ordered and received items
  • Prevents early shipments from suppliers
  • Reduces excess inventory levels
  • Eliminates unexpected receipts, such as late, partial, and unknown shipments
  • Accelerates material receipt process
  • Eliminates material receipt data entry errors

Supplier Portal also helps manufacturers manage inventory levels throughout their supply chain and execute advanced materials management strategies. The portal supports Kanban materials management by providing manufactures with an electronic trigger to request items from suppliers. The solution provides users with visibility into Kanban items including stockroom and bin location, established min/max levels, current quantity, and call off/requested quantity. Supplier portal also enables supplier managed inventory strategies, including consigned inventory, as it provides suppliers visibility into manufacturers' contractually mandated inventory levels.

"Supplier Portal provides manufacturers with a flexible tool that can be used throughout the supply chain regardless of the technical sophistication of their suppliers to help meet end-customer demand," states Randy Ehler, Executive Vice President, Research & Development and Products for Glovia International. "By putting manufacturers in closer contact with their suppliers, supply and demand can be more easily synchronized to strengthen and automate business processes and improve the complex flow of materials from suppliers."
